“It’s not like I just have money coming out of the walls.”
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby, 48, definitely lives an unconventional life. Known as the Pentecostal First Lady to her church’s congregation, Mary and her over-the-top outfits have been the subject of many a Watch What Happens Live conversation.
Her closet is filled with Chanel and Louis Vuitton—so just how does she make money, anyway? Most of Mary’s net worth is inherited, but she still has her hand in a few different businesses. Here’s everything to know about the RHOSLC housewife’s financials:
Mary lives in Utah with her husband, Robert Cosby Sr., and their son, Robert Cosby Jr. Her grandmother, Rosemary Cosby, built a huge fortune and willed it all to Mary—on the condition that Mary marry her husband, Robert (a.k.a. Mary’s step-grandfather). Mary was in her early 20s, while Robert was in his 40s.
“Don’t think it wasn’t weird, ’cause it was!” Mary said. “But I did it because I trusted my grandmother, and I’m so glad I did it.” She inherited Rosemary’s funds, her church, her homes, and more, according to Entertainment Tonight.

But Mary didn’t take over Rosemary’s church for the funds: “I’m so not in it for the money. Oh my goodness, I believe in what I do, I believe in what I’m saying, and I love my church and I love what they are,” she said, per Bravo. “Money can’t fulfill that, not for me.”
It’s unclear exactly how much money was passed down, but The Sun estimates that Mary’s inheritance totaled in the millions. She has kept all of her grandmother’s projects and businesses alive (and profitable) ever since.

In addition to the church, which is called Faith Temple, Mary also inherited other companies from Rosemary. She currently owns and operates chains of hair salons and restaurants, too, per Distractify.
Mary describes herself in her Instagram bio as an entrepreneur and event specialist. Her bio also includes a link to a company called Marimarta Perfumeria, although it’s hard to tell how Mary is connected to the brand. Either way, her many side hustles are definitely bringing in plenty of extra income for Mary and her family.
Mary inherited a few properties, too, per Bravo. She and Robert Sr. currently own five apartments and mansions all over the country. “Robert Sr. does love checking on all of the homes that we own,” Mary explained during one RHOSLC episode.
The couple looks after houses in Salt Lake City, Utah; Las Vegas, Nevada; New York City, New York; Carmel, Indiana; and Orlando, Florida. Oh, and they never rent them out, according to Mary. “We don’t rent our houses or anything,” she said. “When we’re not there, they are empty. We don’t share.”
Mary’s outfits on RHOSLC are always designer, from head to toe. And, in an old Bravo Insider video, the housewife shared a sneak peek into her stuffed closet. RHOSLC viewers know that Mary’s wardrobe is actually spread out in various rooms throughout her mansion that she would otherwise leave empty.
While her impressive collection is packed with designer items, her treasure trove of Chanel clothing and accessories is the real star of the show. Mary owns rare handbags from all different Chanel collaborations, according to Us Weekly, some of which range up to $26,900 in resale value.
But her “favorite” clutch is a bag inspired by a Cuban cigar box. “I don’t know why, it’s just a feeling to it. It’s literally a handbag, but it’s literally a material from a real Cuba cigar. I’m sure guys would like this one,” Mary said.

Mary’s total net worth totals $5 million, according to The Sun. That makes her fortune the same size as her co-star Lisa Barlow’s (meaning both Mary and Lisa are tied for the wealthiest Salt Lake City housewife).
FYI, while $5 million is a hefty sum, it’s nowhere near some of the other housewives’ net worths. RHONY star Luann de Lesseps is worth a whopping $25 million, while RHOBH star Dorit Kemsley and her husband are worth double that. That’s a lot of handbags!
