Village Barber Shop won this year’s Scare Crow Stroll, according to an announcement released this Monday by Altavista On Track (AOT).
Village Barber Shop’s scare crow was based on the Addams Family this year. It was entered in the contest under the name “A Thing Called It.” Village Barber Shop owner Danny Barbour said it was made with PVC pipe and other materials.
“I look forward to it every year,” he said about the contest. “I never really know what we’re going to do.”
Barbour said the scarecrow attracted a fair amount of interest. He noticed many young people who stopped to take pictures with it.
“It’s for the kids, and they seem to have enjoyed it,” he said.
Other entrants in the contest included the town of Altavista’s “Altavista, Virginia & Campbell,” Altavista Outreach and Enrichment’s “Broomhilda,” Harman Eye Center of Altavista’s “Seemor Harman,” Staunton River Memorial Library’s “Faxius Printus the Wise” and the Altavista Band Boosters’ “Marching Colonels Edwin.”
