NFL.com report states the barber was in Arrowhead and cutting hair before the positive test came back
A report out Tuesday morning from NFL.com states two Kansas City Chiefs players landed on the team’s COVID-19 reserve list after a positive test from a barber brought into Arrowhead.
NFL.com reporter Tom Pelissero said receiver Demarcus Robinson and center Daniel Kilgore were placed on the COVID-19 reserve list after contact with a barber who tested positive for coronavirus.
Pelissero said neither Robinson nor Kilgore have tested positive, and all parties were masked while they were in close proximity. However, because both players were deemed high-risk contacts, NFL protocol states they must go on the reserve list.
If both players continue to test negative, they will be eligible to return to the roster in time for Super Bowl LV; however, they won’t be able to practice until this weekend due to the league’s mandatory isolation period.
Pelissero reported, citing sources close to the team, that the barber involved tested negative five consecutive days before being allowed to enter the Chiefs’ facility.
The barber reportedly took an additional rapid test before entering the facility Sunday, but Pelissero reports those results were slightly delayed because of a line of friends and family also entering the facility around the same time.
The report states the barber was wearing double personal protective equipment and was in the process of cutting Kilgore’s hair — the first in a line of players waiting for haircuts — when the positive test results came back.
As Tyreek Hill noted Monday to reporters, the #Chiefs are taking major precautions, including having barbers tested for COVID to do haircuts at the team facility. After being removed from the area, the barber reportedly told the team he’d also cut Robinson’s hair the day before away from the facility — a PCR test from that day returned negative.
