Police: Man stole over $96K in equipment from Wallingford business – New Haven Register

Daniel Meyer
WALLINGFORD — A New Britain man is accused of equipment thefts totaling more than $96,000 from a local business between February and May, according to police.
Daniel Meyer, 32, of High Street in New Britain, is charged with third-degree burglary and first-degree larceny by ongoing scheme, Sgt. Stephen Jaques said. His bond was set at $30,000 and he’s expected in Superior Court in Meriden Sept. 16.
He was taken into custody July 29 on an active arrest warrant for his alleged role in thefts from E & J Electric at 53 North Plains Industrial Road earlier this year.
Meyer was identified as an alleged suspect in five equipment thefts on Feb. 15, Feb. 23, April 12, April 24 and May 5. Jaques said the total loss was $96,954.75. Items taken in each incident included copper wire coils and chainsaws, which Jaques said were in locked storage compartments on each vehicle in the company’s fleet.
At the time of the thefts, the vehicles were in the fenced-in company parking lot, Jaques said. He said Meyer also was arrested by several other police agencies in the state for similar thefts.
