It seems supermodel Irina Shayk doesn’t mind a bit of gentle mocking and has taken it all in her stride after comedian Celeste Barber copied one of her bikini poses.
Celeste, 39, regularly shares pictures and videos with her 8.4 million followers of her replicating everyone from Rihanna and Britney Spears to Kim Kardashian and Gwyneth Paltrow.
It’s fair to say that 35-year-old Shayk is one of her favourites and the supermodel always seems to love the parody pictures.
In the most recent one, Irina posted with her arm leaning against a wall, glass of wine in hand and a pair of thigh high leather boots.
Of course, not forgetting, she’s also sporting a luminous green bikini.
In an attempt to copy the picture, Celeste managed to dig out a turquoise bikini (hey, nothing’s perfect). She also had a pair of black boots on and the all important glass of vino.
The comedian captioned the post: “Mum’s on the wines again,” and Irina showed her appreciation with three fire emojis.
As well as ripping into A-listers far and wide, Celeste also has some important messages to share – especially when it comes to her pictures being censored… and similar ones belonging to models not being.
The post in question featured an editorial image by catwalk star Candice Swanepoel alongside a snap of Barber posing in an almost-identical fashion.
Both women were showing skin as they sat topless – except for a strategically-placed shirt – while covering their right breast with their hand. One point of difference was the fact that in Celeste’s recreation, she’s actually wearing nude underwear while the model is without any.
Despite this, when fans tried to share the body-positive post they received a message from Instagram claiming the side-by-side image ‘goes against our community guidelines on nudity or sexual activity.
Calling out the hypocrisy of Instagram for labelling her image as a violation of community standards while leaving Swanepoel’s original photograph unreported – Barber posted to her Instagram story: “Hey Instagram, sort out your body-shaming standards, guys. It’s 2020. Catch up.”
Go on girl.
