Tiki Barber: Giants offense has to improve – WFAN Radio
This week has not been kind to Jason Garrett, but Barber is still on his side.
“I won’t say it’s a Garrett problem,” Barber said. “I like Jason Garrett, I think he’s got a good mind for offense. I think he feels constrained. Maybe there’s things he wants to be able to do., but they haven’t repped it enough. If you throw things that these guys haven’t repped, the likelihood of success is small…ultimately, it will fall on Jason Garrett, but it’s not Garrett’s fault.”
NFL Week 1 Offensive Line Rankings | NFL News, Rankings and Statistics – Pro Football Focus
The Giants’ O-line exceeded (admittedly low) expectations in Week 1 with PFF’s eighth-highest pass-block win rate, but they’re still ranked as the worst unit in the league.
The good news for the Giants is that 2020 first-rounder Andrew Thomas had a pretty strong game, allowing just two hurries on 45 pass-blocking snaps. Thomas was poor in his rookie season and struggled in the preseason, but the Giants badly need him to take a step toward solid on Daniel Jones’ blindside. Nate Solder was overmatched by Von Miller, and four of the five starters earned PFF run-blocking grades below 65.0. It might be a long season for the Giants’ offense if nothing changes.
