Dollar General will open Route 35 store in Aberdeen – Asbury Park Press

ABERDEEN — A dollar store is moving into a former Rite Aid on Route 35 near Cliffwood Avenue.
Dollar General said it plans to open “in the coming weeks” after it receives the required permits and approvals.
Workers were getting the store ready last week when What’s Going There went by. A big yellow and black sign already is up. “Construction is now complete,” a spokeswoman said.
The Goodwill Store, the previous tenant, moved to Hazlet Plaza, at the corner of Poole Avenue and Route 35, earlier this year after its sublease from Rite Aid expired.
Dollar General sells name-brand and private brand merchandise, including food, health and beauty products, cleaning supplies, housewares and basic clothing. The new store will have six to 10 employees.
The area around Cliffwood Avenue is seeing a burst of retail activity. A nearby McDonald’s has been renovated. Across the street, Wingstop opened a restaurant at Aberdeen Plaza, joining other recent tenants, including LA Fitness and Jersey Mike’s.
Phenix Salon Suites, which leases space to beauty professionals who want to start their own business, is on the way.
