Color is defined as having the ability to provide a special character or distinguishing quality.
At Color Me Beauty Bar, 1810½ W. 99th St., Kimberly Buford and her staff aim to do just that.
When customers experience a beauty treatment from Color Me Beauty Bar, the expectation is to “color” them with a distinguishing and exceptional beautiful quality that captures and is characteristic of their beauty essence.
Color Me Beauty Bar is a natural nail salon that provides manicures, pedicures, facials, brow tinting, and waxing.
At Color Me Beauty Bar, the safety and health of its clients and technicians, as well as the environment in which we live, is their top priority. With that in mind, Color Me Beauty Bar aims to use products with ingredients that are made from plant and fruit sources, ensuring ingredients that are natural, safe, vegan and environmentally friendly.
Its immediate future goal is to become a 100-percent organic beauty bar, and it is almost there.
In business for four years, Color Me Beauty Bar is special because it offers a vegan option for clients with allergies or those who are concerned about the harmful chemicals being used at other salons.
Color Me Beauty Bar is the premier nail and skin care boutique spa in the upscale and historic Beverly neighborhood, offering local residents a wide range of unparalleled beauty treatments and products to color them with premier beauty experiences to relax, refresh and rejuvenate.

One of the significant accomplishments last year for Color Me Beauty Bar was to be one of the black businesses featured for “Shop Black for Black Friday,” an initiative through the city of Chicago to highlight black businesses in the city.
Color Me Beauty Bar supports the food truck program at Progressive Baptist Church, where Buford is a member. The church program makes sure that people who are homeless or in need can have a hot meal.
In addition, Buford is creating her own program to train young women who are interested in the nail industry. Future plans for Color Me Beauty Bar are to add two nail and pedicure stations and to open a nail academy in 2022.
Buford loves serving Beverly/Morgan Park because it is rich with heritage and tradition.
“I love the support of the community for its local businesses,” Buford said. “Being a part of this community feels like a big social hug, which we could all use right now.”
