Alvin E. Tilquit Sr., better known as the “Hairdresser Turk,” homes on Friday, August 13, 2021 with his Creator, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I went back to. He was 92 years old. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a devout member of the Catholic Church of St. Pedro Claver (where his mother worked). He attended St. Peter Claver’s School, Xavier Prep, Straight Business School and Barber School. Alvin Sr. Also worked in the US Army.
Alvin Sr. has owned and operated the Turks Barber Shop on London Avenue (now AP Turrow Avenue) for over 60 years. Many know that Alvin Sr. spent a lot of time on the racetrack, where he liked to bet (and often win) on horses.
Alvin Sr. to his parents, the late Ferdinand and Pearl (Nee Hiller) Tilquit, and his brothers Dewey (Lucille), Geraldine, Lloyd, Donald (Teresa) and Aaron (Maxin) Tilquit. I died before. Sons Glen (Robin) and Kelly Tillquit. And daughter-in-law Priscilla.
Alvin Sr. Survives by Cathy Henderson (Ronald), daughter of Spartanberg, South Carolina, son Alvin Tircuit Jr. (Sheila), son Bryan Tircuit Sr. Tircuit (Laverne), and son Jimmy Tircuit of Spartanberg, South Carolina. .. Granddaughter Keri Henderson Norris (Alton Norris), Bethany Henderson, Nakia Craige, grandchildren Alvin Tircuit III, Bryan Tircuit Jr., Glenn Tircuit Jr., Glenda Sykes (Brandon), Keri Brown; and great-grandchildren’s hosts.
