A new barber shop is set to open in the village of New Richmond.
Co-owners Adrian Echeveste and Jon Huddleston are set to open the New Richmond location of NorthSide Chop Shop in about a month.
The two will open their barber shop at 226 Front St.
Echeveste and Huddleston, both from Kentucky, currently own and run NorthSide Chop Shop in Cold Spring, Kentucky.
They opened that location two years ago and decided to expand to New Richmond after one of their barbers, Lane Dees, a New Richmond resident, suggested the idea.
The location at 226 Front St. was previously an ice cream shop, and between now and the opening of NorthSide Chop Shop New Richmond, Echeveste and Huddleston are working to renovate the storefront; ice cream equipment will be pulled out, and chairs and mirrors, decorated with a ‘rustic’ feel, will be put in.
A traditional barber shop pole will be installed out front.
Huddleston explained that the NorthSide Chop Shop New Richmond will be your typical barber shop, offering both men and women all of the services one would expect from a barber shop – cuts and fades, beard and mustache trims, including (hot towel) straight-razor shaves.
Huddleston explained that he and his staff are uniquely trained to offer barber shop services, and encourages folks to give the barber shop a try, if they haven’t been to one already.
He also confirmed that the adage of barber shops being a hangout spot are true; he and his staff welcome visitors to stop by anytime.
Haircuts start at $23, and discounts are offered for first responders.
To start, Echeveste and Huddleston hope to have four to five chairs available to service clients, and five barbers. In fact, they are currently looking to hire on two to three more barbers. If interested, reach out via the NorthSide Chop Shop Instagram page.
To start, the shop will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m, with hopes to expand to seven days a week.
Of expanding to New Richmond, Huddleston said, “New Richmond is definitely growing. When I visited, I noticed that all the people were polite … it’s a great hang out spot and a place that makes you feel good.”
